We operate 4 sessions per day, 7 days per week. Please always book online as we cannot guarantee availability for walk-ins. We take online bookings right up to 1 minute before the session start time, providing there is still availability.
Our session times are:
9.00am - 10.45am
11.15am - 1.00pm
1.30pm - 3.15pm
3.45pm - 5.30pm
Please note we close the venue completely (including the cafe area) for 30 minutes between each session to thoroughly clean and tidy and reset all the toys. This ensures that each group are able to benefit from seeing the village and play areas at their very best.
After checking in at reception, a typical session starts with a welcome song in the picnic area. Children can join in, or are free to explore the various play areas under the supervision of their parents or carers.
Midway through the session there may sometimes be an adult led activity which will vary depending on the age and number of children on that particular day. Examples include a teddy bear's picnic, a cat stuck up a tree, or a construction challenge.
15 minutes before the session ends we play the 'Tidy Up' song and encourage the children to help us put away the toys. We find this helps get them ready for home time and stops some of the tears when it comes to leave!
Supervised sessions will be coming to PICNIC soon, with a planned start in September 2020. Parents and carers must remain on site, but would be more free to enjoy a coffee with friends or catch up with some work.
For 4 to 6 year olds, we have now also introduced a range of age-specific activity cards which are both educational and fun, produced in line with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) curriculum.
These teach children about the everyday world around them, whilst at the same time enabling children to get the very most out of the play space available.
